the monday monday song's in my head again...

whew. i'm really feeling sleepy tonight. mondays are kinda long, i guess. don't get home from choir till around 11:00, and after 2 and a half hours of singing Bach, there's some serious wear and tear.

so today was SO gorgeous. it was about 80 degrees, and SO warm. very strange. i totally could have worn capris and flip-flops, but i was worried it would be cold tonight when i was coming home from choir. but it wasn't! it was still hot at 10! so anyway, i think it's gonna get cold again this week and start raining again wednesday. which sucks, but it IS April, after all, and that's like the whole purpose of the month.

last night i talked to an old friend who i haven't seen in about 2 and a half years, and it was nice. we have a lot in common considering he's in a band and writes music, all that stuff. we've both got the artist mentality, feeling locked up in an office all day, etc etc...like normal life isn't good enough for us.

so friday i went to the public library and signed up for a library card because a couple weeks ago i went there for a free class on knitting and wanted to just read all the books instead. i had forgotten how much i love the library. and it's not even a big one, but just all the books...i could spend the entire day there and not be bored in the slightest.

anyway, i got a couple books. one on writing that i've been reading religiously since saturday at my gyno appointment and one to consider for my latino lit. paper. the writing book is awesome. the author is really funny in a really unique way...she's one of those writers who thinks of the strangest, coolest ways to say things. she thinks of analogies i never would and arranges adjectives in ways i could never think up. but anyway, she has some sound, interesting advice you may not have heard before. it's called Bird by Bird, Some Instructions on Writing and Life, and if i can read it without distraction on the subway surrounded by loud, multiple voices in Spanish, English and some other unrecognizable languages, then it must be good. the author is Anne Lamott. you should check it out if you're into writing. the other book is Chronicle of a Death Foretold by Gabriel Garcia Marquez, but i haven't started it yet, so i can't make any promises. however, he DID win the Nobel Prize for Literature for 100 Years of Solitude, and that's saying something. in fact, last week on Jeopardy that book was the question to one of the answers, and i got it right! whoo hoo. you know you've hit it big when you've got a question on Jeopardy. ah...the dream, the wonder of it all.
